Castell de Siurana “Selecció de costers”

This aged wine is made ​​from Grenache (70%) and Carignan (30%) harvested from the oldest vines of the cellar. These vineyards have very low yields, and are located in the Sierra de Montsant and the ancient village of Siurana, an idyllic place where the grapes mature slowly to become a great wine with a unique personality.

Grenache harvesting began on October 12 in the lower areas, between 500-600 metres; followed by the Carignan, also located in the lower warmer parts at between 600-800 metres. Fermentation took place over 23 days at a temperature of 28°C, macerated with the skins.

Then the wine was passed into oak vats for malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging for one year, followed by bottling, for aging in bottle, which enhances the bouquet and produces a wine suitable for the consumer’s taste in the best conditions.

Alcohol: 13.5% • Total tartaric acidity: 5.6 g / l

Tasting Notes:  Wine red cherry colour with intense layer. The nose is of high intensity and has a large complexity, since notes of coffee, dark fruit, spices and herbs can be found. The palate has a nice entry; it is bulky, with a good structure and a long body. The aftertaste is persistent and encourages you to drink a little more.

Ideal with stews and cured cheese.

It should be served at a temperature between 16 and 18 ° C.
